This Middlebury home is an existing customer who has our WaterGuard System, SuperSump and SaniDry Dehumidifier. She called in to schedule her yearly maintenance appointment for the SuperSump pump and Dehumidifier.
On the day of the service appointment, Service Technician Justin Jaffer arrived at the home on time and greeted the homeowner. He then explained the procedure of what a maintenance included and asked if there were any questions or concerns about the systems. With no concerns, Justin went into the basement to evaluate the systems.
This was a simple maintenance routine. The SuperSump was pretty much clean with very little build up. Justin checked all the breathing holes of the sump pump and they were clear of any debris. So, with a scrub of the basin and a check of the battery, the system looked great. He checked the flow of water and then moved on to the SaniDry dehumidifier. With the dehumidifier, Justin opened up the system and replaced the filter. He also cleaned out any dirt or dust that was inside the system. Then he checked to see if the humidity was still at the recommended temperature of 55 degrees or below and it was. With both systems in pristine condition, Justin cleaned up and went to follow up with the homeowner. Justin gave a full report of what was done during this maintenance and reassured the systems were working perfectly.
It is important to schedule these annual maintenances for your sump pumps and dehumidifier. Just like this homeowner, having a successful maintenance every year is better and less expensive than skipping out on annual maintenances and having to replace parts or worse…have a flooded basement. This Waterbury basement had a maintenance for their TripleSafe safe pump that was a year past due. It is important to have your sump pump maintenance every year! The homeowner decided to schedule a maintenance this year and we were happy to come out.
On the day of the maintenance, Service Technician Justin Jaffer arrived at the home. After talking to the homeowner, he went to go inspect the sump pump. The first concern he noticed was that there was no power to the system and realized quickly that a breaker was tripped. Upon more evaluation, Justin realized that the primary pump was destroyed due to the iron build up that happened in the system. Since there was no power to the system, the secondary pump was discharging the water to keep the basement dry. (That is a great benefit of this system!) In addition to all of this, the battery was dead to the system. Justin had to replace the primary pump and the battery and had to scrub the rest of the system to get rid of the iron. After scrubbing and parts replaced, the system was running efficiently and the homeowner was happy. With so much iron build-up, Justin highly recommended to get a service maintenance every 6 months and to be consistent with the service!
Need to schedule your maintenance? Give us a call at 1-855-200-7133 and we will be happy to schedule a service!

This homeowner previously had another company install a waterproofing system that didn’t work as hoped. During a storm, she had lost power and the basement had flooded completely. The house owner knew of Connecticut Basement Systems and picked up the phone to have us fix this issue right away. Our salesman, Doug, was able to provide a permanent solution for this home in Waterbury, CT.
Before there was a single sump with a generic liner that had a lid with a slot cut in it. To fix that we installed our TripleSafe sump pump system which is engineered with three levels of protection. The first level starts with the most reliable cast iron AC sump pump. There are also is two separate discharge lines so if one pump can’t handle the volume of water, then they can work to pump together. If you were to lose power, a third pump automatically starts. These pumps are fit in a custom engineered liner that has an airtight lid bolted down. Some features of our TripleSafe sump pump include: its patented CleanPump stand, which keeps the pumps out of silt and sediment that would wash into the liner. The lid of the TripleSage has a built-in FloorDrain to capture any plumbing leaks. Lastly, it has a WaterWatch alarm, that goes off like a smoke detector in the highly unlikely event of water passing all sump operating ranges.
As for the discharge line, the previous line was on their yard. This causes the water to go nowhere but back into the house whenever it was to freeze in the winter. We installed our underground discharge line along with our patented IceGuard, which allows water to escape and not backup. Our products and exceptional workmanship are guaranteed to leave our clients happy and secure household fixes.
Now with our permanent solution, the homeowner has a dry basement all year long.
