Waterproofing a Basement in Westport, CT

A homeowner in Westport, CT expressed concerns that his basement was ill-equipped to protect against basement moisture. With an old sump pump and single dehumidifier, he wanted to upgrade his basement's waterproofing abilities. In need of an expert, the homeowner reached out to the experts at Connecticut Basement Systems for assistance.

Upon calling, the homeowner made contact with Sales Representative Jimmy Stablein. Stablein listened to the homeowner's concerns, scheduling an in-home consultation to further diagnose homeowner's needs. Once the consultation was complete, a formalized proposal was drafted, including specific systems that could help upgrade the homeowner's previous waterproofing system. Some elements of the proposal included:

Installing a WaterGuard French drain system along the perimeter walls helps protect against water accumulating on the outskirts of the basement walls. Water may enter along the walls due to hydrostatic pressure, when water is pushed through narrow gaps in the concrete walls, seeping in along the perimeter. This clog-free system would help protect against these concerns. Additionally, a TripleSafe sump pump was installed, with three levels of protection against basement water. Any excess water collected by the WaterGuard system will be funneled into the sump pump, then expelled to a safe location outside the home via an exterior drainage line. Lastly, a SaniDry dehumidifier was installed to filter the air and remove moisture.

Once approved, Foreman Steve Cogswell and his team arrived on-site to begin work. Removing sections of the concrete slab along the perimeter, Cogswell installed the WaterGuard system. Repairing the area with extra concrete contributes to the non-invasive nature of the system, with it being barely visible aside from the replaced concrete. 

With the systems installed, the homeowner was thrilled with the results and looks forward to using his waterproofed basement.

A customer in Westport, CT had water seepage in their basement, so they gave us a call at Connecticut Basement Systems to have us solve their problems. One of our Sales Consultants, Alex Lopez, went out to the home to assess the basement water issues and propose a solution that would eliminate their issues, keeping their basement dry. 

One of our Foremen, Antonio Diaz, and his crew installed this job. They installed our WaterGuard drainage system below the floor, around the entire perimeter of the basement, to collect the water coming in from below the floor and the walls. Then they installed our TripleSafe sump pump to take the collected water and pump it out of the home at a safe distance. It uses three pumps; a primary, a secondary, and a battery backup that can pump 11,500 gallons on a full charge. They also installed a half wall of CleanSpace vapor barrier to help lead water coming from the walls into the drains below. With these systems, this basement will stay dry, giving the homeowner peace of mind.

This Westport home had a crawlspace that had a lot of moisture and a musty odor. This caused concern for the homeowner because it was starting to affect the living area of his house. He wanted to transform his crawlspace area to be an energy efficient place. After doing much research, he decided to call Connecticut Basement Systems as they are the experts in crawlspaces and basements.

On the day of the appointment, Sales Representative Rick Raucci arrived to inspect the crawlspace. It had a lot of cracks and openings which is how moisture was able to enter the crawlspace so frequently.  Rick recommended installing a CleanSpace liner to cover the walls and floors of the crawlspace. This durable product will prevent air and moisture from entering the crawlspace, leaving the area drier. To address the musty odor, a SaniDry can be installed to control the humidity of the area. With controlled humidity, the air quality will dramatically increase to be healthier and safer. This is exactly what the homeowner wanted and decided to move forward with the project.

On the day of production, Foreman Garfield Sanderson and his team installed the two products proficiently and effectively. The homeowner was extremely impressed with the transformation of the crawlspace and even more impressed with results of the efficiency of his home!
