Basement Finishing Case Studies: Basement Finishing in Norwalk, CT

Challenge

This Norwalk, CT home had an assortment of everything you don’t want to see in your family basement. It was the farthest thing from a safe, cozy space. Electrical wires were entangling the walls and flooring, and the light fixtures were basically hanging from a “thread”, also entrapped with electrical cables. Most of the framing was not finished, and just created for a very unfriendly and uninviting part of their home. Because this homeowner did not have properly insulated basement walls or ceilings, the rooms that occupy above it would be feeling the drafty air that seeped in through the basement. That draft would in turn circulate throughout the whole house and would be one of the main reasons for their insufficient air flow. These homeowners wanted to finally make full use out of their home, so that they could enjoy it with friends and family. They did the right thing and gave us a call here at  Connecticut Basement Systems. We sent out our Certified Basement Expert Brad to get the job started!

Solution

Brad designed them a basement they have always dreamed of. First, we installed our MillCreek Flooring over those unappealing, cold, cement floors. This flooring is specially engineered for underground living spaces. It is 100% waterproof and looks like real wood, which gave this basement a gorgeous and stylish feel! For those unfinished walls, our EverLast Wall System saved the day. These walls are one of a kind and exclusive to Basement System Dealers. They are 97% stronger than traditional drywall, which is so great to have in any room because you can hang practically anything on them.

These homeowners had a fantastic backyard with a pool area, and our design specialist saw that, and ran with it! We knocked down part of the wall and had beautiful double doors installed. This will allow the family to have access to their pool area from the basement which is perfect for entertaining. For the wire infested ceiling, we got rid of those as a whole and put in our rot/mold resistant drop ceiling system. Finally, to top off this amazing project, the homeowners had us put in a stunning full bathroom. Having a full bath down in the basement gives the family unlimited options of how they want to use the space. In the end, this valuable living space practically doubled their square footage usage, and will ramp up their resale value when it’s time for them to put the house on the market. Another satisfied customer in the books, and both parties couldn’t be happier.
